'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby starts out in the back of a speeding vehicle as Ricky's mother gives birth to him. Early in his childhood Ricky's father left the family, leaving Ricky with only the motto: "If you're not first, you're last." Thus leading to Ricky, played by Will Farrell, spending his life doing, what else, but trying to go fast.
While working as the pit crew for a big NASCAR event, Ricky gets to live out his dream of racing when the original driver must be replaced. So begins his rise to greatness. While helping out by his best friend Cal (John Reilly) and cheered on by his wife Carley (Lesslie Bibb), Ricky rises to being one of the best racers in NASCAR. That is until Jean Girard (Sacha Cohen), the gay French formula one racer, decides to make a move to NASCAR. During their first race Ricky is in a terrible car crash. It gets worse. Carley divorces him while he is still recovering.
Talledega Nights Tragedy
When Ricky Bobby finally heals up, he gets back in the car, but for once is scared to go fast, so who better but is deadbeat father, who left him all those years ago, to help him get over his fear. Reese Bobby (Gary Cole) forces him to do many strange and stupid things to supposedly get him over his fear, such as forcing him to drive with a cougar.
While this is going on, Cal and Carley get married, and Cal cannot figure out why in the world Ricky would no longer like him for marrying his ex-wife. Now Bobby is ready to take back his title from his now enemy Cal and Jean Girard.
Overall, Talladega Nights: The Balled of Ricky Bobby is a great movie for racing fans and Will Farrell fans.
