In response to 'subliminal' messages or images in Disney cartoons...I can only wonder what kind of person it takes to notice these things. I grew up on Disney, all I can say is, I have never managed to squint my eyes quite enough to conjure up warped animated sex clouds. Even when these supposed images are pointed out to me...I am left mystified. I just can't imagine what it takes to see such things.

Lise...in answer to your question about what can be done to stop your child from viewing cartoons you find offensive...Turn off the TV. Sheltering your child from everything will only help him to grow up to tolerate nothing. Just what we need....more hypersensitive overly politically correct people.

To 'kindofidiot'.....A child that is allowed to watch a cartoon 10 times a day, has their parents neglect to thank for their antisocial dysfunctional behaviour....not Disney. I would ignore your recommendation for parents to boycott Disney cartoons, and instead recommend parents to ensure their childs day is well balanced. (as MOST of know) We just love to place blame for our failures elsewhere, don't we ? LOL

With Lise i think this is bad. Disney our beloved good entertainment source has been liking unmature stuff secretly to our kids. Wether they are offensive or inofensive this things get stuck in the back of the brain of kids. They grow up with those words tattoed on them (if they watch that movie a ton of times, my cousin was found of the little mermaid watching it 10 times a day!) so i guess that those depressive acts called for the depressive children now called emos. They feel weird without a reason, why disney's olds messges. I am glad they just stopped this open stupidness of not so hidden messages that contaminate minds of kids who have never had an open talk to their parents about sex, drugs, violence and racial issues. So i recomend for the parents to boycot and don't let the children watch that unless you had a talk to your child about those issues present nowaday.

There are many suggestive things that went down with Disney's English films, such as the Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Aladdin. But as I was growing up, I never noticed them, nor did any of my friends. It was adults who understood the suggestive themes, not the children. The point is, children shouldn't be so 'protected' as you suggest. It's not harmful as previously stated, and parent's that overprotect there children don't realize there children are more likely to become attracted to darker things when they grow older. Point: Give your kid some room, even if he is 4. You can't save him from everything.

Lise, cut me a break, I grew up with all sorts of media with a story line of a women chasing three poor blind mice wanting to chop their tails off. A french song that has a bird pecking childrens eyes out and don't forget about shoving children and witches into an oven. Almost any story by the brothers Grimm has some sort of horror to it. I have grown up to be a very normal person. These stories are not harmful, P/C and lets ban this and that is.

Hello,

I'm looking for the right address to mention something I noticed in the french version of Chip'n Dale, Rescue Rangers (Tic et Tac, Rangers du risque. This is the 4rth address I write to even if it's to soon for ther others to reply yet.

These beautiful chipmunks entertain our 4 year old son. We've been trustingly letting him listen to the Rescue Rangers adventures and are very fond of it. We trusted these short movies to be totaly inoffensive till we noticed these two surprising phrases in the french version of the 22nd episode found on volume 3 (containing episodes 28-51) : (I put the french phrase as I remember it and translated in english for your convience if needed.)

- "Apportez-moi une corde pour que je me pende." ("Bring me a rope so I could hang myself")

- "...... que je vende mon âme au diable." (".... so I could sell my soul to the devil.")

My husband and I were astonished. These phrases are both found in the same episode #22 of the disc.

The discs will be banned from the choices of inoffensive movies our child is allowed to listen to.

What can be done about this ? Does the original english version also have these phrases ?

Hoping to receive an answer.

Kind regards,

Lise
