About the Turner Classic Movie Channel
As its name denotes, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) was founded by media mogul Ted Turner in 1994. The channel features films from all movie studios, but predominately movies made by Warner Brothers and those owned by Turner Entertainment. The Turner Entertainment library is enormous and includes films from such movie studios as:
- RKO
- MGM
- United Artists
- Castle Rock
- New Line Cinema
- Universal
- Paramount
- Columbia
Turner Classic Movie channel presents all of its films commercial free, in their original format. Though many of the older films have been digitally remastered, Turner has opted out of adding Technicolor to any film that was originally shot in black and white.

Reasons to Check out TCM
Even if you aren't a fan of older films and even less of a fan of black and whites, on a day when you find you have nothing to do, or its rainy or cold out, or you're sick, check out an old film on TCM. Films made decades ago are scrubbed down of fancy computer graphics and gratuitous violence or nudity. These classic movies depend on the artistry of the directors and the talent of the actors and actresses to carry the film, which is what makes classic movies so great to watch.
