New Moon, the movie, features returning stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for the next stage of the love story involving Bella, Edward and Jacob. New Moon is the second of four books by Stephanie Meyer including Twilight, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

Publicized reports about New Moon movie production included directorial, budget, script and casting issues including the possibility of recasting the pivotal role of Jacob. While producers worry about the chemistry between Stewart and Lautner, there is also the concern that Jacob grows rapidly in New Moon topping out around 6’7, nearly a foot taller than Lautner’s 5’10.

During the 2009, MTV Awards, Pattinson, Lautner and Stewart presented the full trailer for the upcoming release of New Moon to wild cheers from the audience. The official trailer available on YouTube shows Bella paper-cutting her finger during her birthday party at the Cullens' home. The scent of blood attracts Jasper, who attacks, and Edward knocks Bella back into a table to protect her, cutting her arm badly.

The events of the birthday party lead Edward to decide that Bella would be better off without any of the Cullens in her life. He takes her off into the woods and tells her he is leaving, and so is the rest of his family; it will be as though they never met. Bella is left despondent for months, rousing from her depression thanks to her friendship with Jacob who, along with many young men in his tribe, turns out to be a werewolf.

New Moon Movie Release Date

New Moon the movie remains scheduled for release on November 20, 2009 in hopes of becoming the premiere holiday movie for tweens and teenagers. Newsweek finds that the Twilight novels and film saga make for great bonding between mothers and daughters particularly because of the focus on romance, relationships and friendships.
