New Moon Facts

With all the hype surrounding the Twilight series of books and movies, it comes as no surprise that fans want to know all the New Moon facts available.

If you are a huge Twilight fan or a mega fan that might just border on obsession (and there are plenty of you out there), you probably know every single fact about New Moon, Twilight, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Regardless, here are a few facts about the highly anticipated film as well as the book.

Young Taylor Lautner, who played the role of Jacob in Twilight was almost passed over for his role reprisal in New Moon because executives thought he was too boyish and young looking for the major transformations his character experiences in New Moon. As a result, Taylor worked out extremely hard and gained an estimated 30 pounds of pure muscle to win back his role.

While answering questions during Comic-Con, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson were asked about their favorite scenes in the film, here's what they had to say:

• Kristen Stewart – There is a scene in which Taylor Lautner's character Jacob tells Bella that the two of them can no longer be friends because he is transforming into a werewolf. Both Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner refer to this as the "break up" scene, even though the two are not technically breaking up.

• Taylor Lautner – Lautner reveals that his favorite scene was when he was telling Bella that he was leaving to go fight and he goes to tell Bella goodbye. He explains that Bella is concerned for him and that he thought it was "cute."

• Robert Pattinson – Pattinson also claimed a break up scene to be his favorite. He says that he liked it because it humanized his character and "...completely bypasses all the supernatural elements of the story."

Here are some more fun and interesting facts about New Moon:

• Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg turned in the rough draft for the New Moon script on the day Twilight premiered.
• Stephanie Meyer revealed that she chose the title New Moon because it is the darkest phase of the moon's cycle. She goes on to explain that the title reflects the fact that the book is "...the darkest period of Bella's life."
• Taylor Lautner says that the only thing that bothers him about Twifans is that they always ask him to growl. The young actor remains super appreciative of all his fans though, calling them "passionate" and "intense" and crediting them for all the characters popularity.
• Stephanie Meyer did not originally intend to write all four books in the Twilight series. Twilight was originally meant to be the only novel. Obviously for Meyer, the storyline and the characters continued to evolve.
• New Moon director Chris Weitz will not be directing the third installment of the series. The reason behind this is because filming for Eclipse begins as the post-production is being finished for New Moon. There is no time for Weitz to work on both.
• Jackson Rathbone got so worked up during the fight scene at Bella's birthday party that he actually knocked down Elizabeth Reaser. Rathbone was so into character that his co-stars had to physically restrain him during the scene.
• New Moon is Robert Pattinson's favorite book in the entire Twilight series.
• In order to ensure that the film would meet fan's expectations, executives constantly monitored Twilight fan sites, Twitter pages and blogs.

All of the film adaptations from the Twilight series of books are extremely highly anticipated. New Moon is set for release in November of 2009 with Eclipse following closely behind it. Of her success, Stephanie Meyer says she never believed her books would garner so much attention and still does not believe that they are as hugely successful as they have become.
