June Movie Releases

From LoveToKnow Movies

June movie releases include a selection of movies targeted to kids, who are freshly out of school and already likely to be complaining of boredom, horror remakes, and long-awaited sequels.

Superman Returns

While not due out until June 30, Superman Returns' is possibly the most anticipated of the June movie releases.

Starring Brandon Roth, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey, this Warner Brothers release picks up with the return of Superman after a long absence. While the plot is similar to past Superman movies, with villains working toward draining him of his powers, Return strays a bit from the "I'm an alien and trying to fit in" to one that most of us are more familiar with. Superman returns to find Lois Lane has moved on with her life, as people are apt to do when love interests disappear, and society doesn't see him as the superhero he once was.

Superman Returns is rated PG-13 for violence. This is not a movie for young kids. You can view the trailer, see photos, and find downloadable icons and wallpapers at Superman Returns. Superman fans will be happy to hear this sequel will be available in IMAX 3D.

The Omen

What better movie to release than the remake of the 1976 horror movie The Omen on 06.06.06? For those who live in a black box, the number 666 is a sign of the devil, and The Omen is the classic tale of Satan's son born into the mortal world to wreak bloody horrors on anyone who gets in his way.

As expected, The Omen: 666 is not suitable for young children or people who do not have a stomach for classic Scary Movies. It is rated R for violence, language, and graphic images. View the trailer at The Omen Official Website.

The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift takes the hot cars and the intense action of street racing to Japan—only supercharged into drift racing. Shaun Boswell, played by Lucas Black, is sent to Japan in an attempt to outrun the law. There, he takes on one of the hottest drift racers around, who also turns out to work for a crime family, and whoop, there it is, Shaun is pulled into more legal problem, only this time, he's a world away from home.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is rated PG-13 for violence, teen illegal activity, language, and sexual content. View the trailer at The Fast and The Furious3 and see the movie starting June 16.

Nacho Libre

Jack Black fans, watch out; he's back in the June movie release titled Nacho Libre. Black plays Nacho, a Mexican cook who is out to save an orphanage from financial ruin by turning his attention to the "great" sport of wrestling.

Nacho Libre is rated PG for off-colored humor and rough action. Expect this June 16 release to appeal to tweens and teens, and adults who have never quite grown up, who are looking for some comic relief. Whether you intend to see the movie or not, it is worth a visit out to the Nacho Libre website just to make yourself feel better about your own looks. No one could possibly look worse than Black in blue tights and a cape.

Click

If you were a big fan of Bruce Almighty, you might enjoy the June 23 theatre release of Adam Sandler's Click. While Jim Carrey received his powers through God, Sandler happens upon a remote control that allows him to treat his life as a TV show, complete with TiVo capabilities.

This comedy is rated PG-13 for language and off color humor. Click also contains some drug references. To learn more about the movie, visit the official website at Sony Pictures.
