The theater has a rich and unique history and a long-standing commitment to excellent service. The first Harkins movie house was established in the early 1930’s by Dwight ‘Red’ Harkins, who began a legacy for innovation and quality in theaters.

Although his first theater, built during the height of the Great Depression, was more modest, Harkins’ second theater paved the way for quality and service. It offered amenities such as electronically controlled drinking fountains, headphones for the hearing impaired, and glow-in-the dark carpeting that added both safety and character to his theater.
