Free Hollywood movie scripts are scattered all around the Internet. All you really need are a few basic sites that list almost every script Hollywood has produced. Between them, you should be able to find the script you are seeking. Since the scripts are free, you can only obtain them for personal use. Obviously, you are not allowed to modify or film a script without written permission from the owner. The free Hollywood movie scripts are best if you just want to read them or to discover a few spoilers before a movie comes out.
Internet Movie Script Database
The Internet Movie Script Database houses many scripts available for viewing. You can find upcoming movies and older movies. Clicking on a link to a script takes you go the movie's basic information and a comment section where you can comment on the script and/or the movie. All of the scripts are in HTML format so you can read them right in your web browsers. From there you can save and print them if needed.
Free Hollywood Movie Scripts at Drew's Script-o-rama
One of the oldest websites to find free Hollywood movies scripts is Drew's Script-O-Rama. Besides movie scripts, you can read television scripts and even new scripts written by unknown writers. For something even more interesting, the makers of the site have a haiku section where haiku are written about popular movies like 12 Monkeys and not-so-popular movies like Bad Lieutenant.
Movie Page
Movie Page has a nice listing of scripts you can download in different formats like PDF and Word. While Movie Page doesn't update as often as some of the other sites, you can find different drafts like third and fourth drafts as well as rejected drafts of movies. For example, Aliens 3's script was rejected five times before the final draft was accepted.
Screenplay 451
The simple website at Screenplay 451 has few offerings, but the formats of the scripts are crisp and easy to ready. Some downloads have oddly formatted scripts or hard-to-read scripts, but Screenplay 451 has properly formatted scripts for you to download.
Simply Scripts
Simply Scripts is all about scripts. While they don't host the scripts directly on the site, they do provide links to the scripts where they are hosted. Most of the links go to the production company's website where the script is hosted so they are truly official scripts. Besides free Hollywood and Disney movie scripts, you can find television scripts, plays and scripts for musicals. If you're a fan of foreign films, then check out the non-English scripts that are available, and if you're a fan of new scripts, then there is also an unproduced script section you can peruse.
Old Movies
If you are looking for a collection of classic movie scripts in one location, then go to Aellea.com. The website is in blog format. Here you can find movies from the early days of film. Many of the versions are transcripts, but some of the more popular movies like The Wizard of Oz and Some Like it Hot are available in PDF or another downloadable format. Those tend to be formatted for easier reading because most of the scripts are in TXT format and have limited formatting capabilities.
SciFi Scripts
Another site that isn't updated very often, but contains a nice collection of science fiction and fantasy scripts is SciFi Scripts. Most of the scripts are hosted by SciFi Scripts, but there are some links that take you to other sites. There are many different versions of scripts listed on the site, so you have options on what version you wish to read.
Horror Lair
Another genre website that offers free Hollywood movie scripts is Horror Lair. As the name implies, you will find horror scripts hosted on this site. Most of the scripts are in HTML, so that means you read them in your browser. Some of the newly added scripts can be downloaded in PDF format for offline viewing.
