The fact is that Disney animated feature films have come from several sources, such as adaptations of books, stories, fairytales, folk tales, and legends. Some movie scripts were originals. Others were thought to be originals but turned out to come from previous work. For example:
- The Lion King was inspired by a few different sources. Some of these sources are the Biblical stories of Joseph and Moses. Can you imagine Disney being inspired by Shakespeare? Well many say Hamlet inspired The Lion King.Bambi and Kimba the White Lion are also said to have inspired this humongous box office smash hit.
- The Nightmare Before Christmas came from the famous poem 'Twas the Night before Christmas.
- Brother Bear was inspired mainly by Native American legends and folklore.
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire was inspired by the mythical lost city of Atlantis and the story of Nadia: the Secret of Water.
Beginning of the Disney Magic
Disney was founded in 1925 by the Disney brothers, Walt and Roy. Disney was initially an animation studio, but rose to become one of the biggest and most profitable Hollywood studios of all time. The Disney corporate headquarters and main production studios are located in Burbank, California. In 1941, they began making propaganda films to boast the moral of the United States during the second World War. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1944, bringing Disney much needed revenues and the ability to go on to make some of the most famous films of the twentieth century.
