Original Cast of Underworld Movie
There are five main players in the cast of Underworld movie, beginning with its main star, Kate Beckinsale.
Kate Beckinsale
Kate Beckinsale played the lead role of Selene, who later learned that her entire family was murdered by the elder vampire Viktor, played by actor Bill Nighy. Upon her family's death, Viktor turned Selene into a vampire. Originally believing that Lycans killed her family, Selene becomes a "Death Dealer" in the film, taking revenge on all Lycans as she believed they were responsible for the execution of her family. In ''Underworld: Evolution", Beckinsale's daughter, Lily, played the role of a young Selene.
Bill Nighy
Bill Nighy's character, Viktor, reportedly decided not to kill Selene because she reminded him of his daughter Sonja. When Sonja was young, she fell in love with Lucian and she became pregnant with his child. Upon finding out, her father, Viktor, condemned her to death and she was burned alive via sunlight.
You may remember Bill Nighy from more decidedly different roles than the murderous vampire leader in 'Underworld. Nighy starred as Bill Mack, the has-been pop star in the romantic comedy Love Actually. Nighy is set to play the part of Rufus Scrimgeor in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, for which the first part is set for release in 2010 and the second part in 2011.
Scott Speedman
Probably best known for his role as Ben Covington in the teenage drama Felicity, Speedman takes on a much different role as Michael Corvin in the Underworld films. In the film, Beckinsale's character, Selene, saves him from certain death as Lycans attacked him in his apartment. Corvin later returned the favor in a different attack, saving Selene's life. The two eventually become romantically linked in the films.
Michael Sheen
British actor Michael Sheen took on the role as head of the Lycan clan, Lucian. For centuries many believed Lucian was dead, only to return and become one of the most feared and ruthless leaders of the Lycan clan. Sheen is set to appear in the remake of Alice in Wonderland as the White Rabbit and in the film Tron Legacy.
Shane Brolly
Appearing in all three films, Shane Brolly's Death Dealer character Kraven was first credited with killing Lucian. Selene later saw Lucian was alive, confirming her doubts about Kraven's abilities as a Death Dealer as well as his loyalties. Kraven was eventually murdered by vampire elder Marcus Corvinus.
